BROWNIE MARY NEEDS YOU!!!

BROWNIE MARY WANTS YOU!

YES!! – Brownie Mary needs you to volunteer your esteemed and valuable services for the Brownie Mary Democratic Club’s booth in the Exhibit Hall and Hospitality Suite at the California Democratic Convention at the Anaheim Convention Center on Friday, May 15 and Saturday, May 16.

And you don’t even have to be a Democratic to do it.

This is going to be an exciting convention. With Elizabeth Warren, Barney Frank and a legion of California Democratic notables in attendance, it is going to be truly rousing convention. For more info on the convention CLICK HERE.

If you have never been to a state Democratic Convention or any party convention – here’s your opportunity to go as it is in our neck of the woods.

Here’s what BMDC is doing at the convention and where your help is needed.

Exhibit Booth – double size with our famous “marijuana museum” with displays of old reefer madness materials, old medicine bottles, cultivation equipment, seeds, seedlings, mature plant (people love to pose with it), Elvy Musikka display with 300 joint canister from government pot farm, smoking devices, edibles, pee test stuff, industrial hemp display, books, flyers and more..

Hospitality Suite – this is going to be all so cool – brownies with ice cream, hosted bar (yeah – hosted!), entertainment by DJ Elmo Greenmeds and more, presentation by Assemblyman Jim Wood author of SB 243 on cultivation standards and more more more.

Note we do not expect you to be at the booth or hospitality suite the entire time you are at the convention – unless of course that is what you want to do. We want you to have time off to participate in convention activities. That’s why you should take the day off and come for the day so you have plenty of time to volunteer and plenty of time to see all that is going on.

We need volunteers to be “ambassadors” at the Hospitality Suite as well as people to staff the booth for intimate conversations with delegates, officials and other convention attendees. These are the people who are the leaders of their communities back home serving on local boards, commissions and community organizations. Their support for marijuana legalization is crucial because they are pillars of their local communities - we can get their support and cement it with our presence at the Democratic Party.

We are going to need about 25 volunteers to pull this off, so please consider this an adventure and take the entire day off if you can and come on down and spend a day with the BMDC at the California Democratic Party State Convention.

There is no charge to attend the convention although getting on the convention floor requires an observer pass – we will have some at the booth, but at this time I do not know how many. Except for being on the convention floor – everything else is open to all – committee and caucus meetings, exhibit hall, hospitality suites and more.

Ready to volunteer? Here are the days and times:

Friday, May 15 – Exhibit booth set-up – 9 a.m. to 12 noon

                          Exhibit booth open – 12 noon to 10 p.m.

Saturday, May 16 – Exhibit booth open - 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.

                               Hospitality Suite runs from 10:15 p.m. to 12:15 a.m. Set-up begins at 8 p.m.

Sunday, May 17 – Exhibit booth open 10 a.m. to noon followed by tear down.

The Anaheim Convention center is located at 800 West Katella Avenue Anaheim CA 92802, across the street from the Disneyland Resort.

Like I wrote – Brownie Mary Needs You! – if you can come on down for a couple hours or an entire day, please let me know so I can sign you up. Send an email to [email protected] or call me at 760-799-2055.

Let me assure you this will be an exciting event and you will really have a good time, feel empowered by and relate your adventures to everyone you know. Don’t miss it.

I NEED YOUR VOTE

Netrootnations is an organization dedicated to providing progressive activists training on how to be more effective in using technology to influence the public debate. Through their annual convention, they work to strengthen the community, inspire action and serve as an incubator for ideas that challenge the status quo and ultimately affect change in the public sphere.

The tenth annual convention of Netrootsnation will be held July 16–19 in Phoenix, AZ. Netroots Nation 2015 will include 80 panels, 40+ training sessions, inspiring keynotes, film screenings and other engaging sessions designed to educate, stimulate and inspire the nation’s next generation of progressive leaders.

Each year, thousands of bloggers, newsmakers, social justice advocates, labor and organizational leaders, grassroots organizers and online activists come together to make new connections, hone their organizing skills, share best practices and build stronger relationships with others working on the issues they care most about. And each year, some of the brightest minds in progressive politics come to Netroots Nation to speak with—and hear from—our community.

I would really really really like to be there and you can make that happen.

Scholarships are being offered to attend the conference and you can help me obtain a scholarship by voting for me. It will only take you 15 seconds to vote for me – all you have to do is CLICK HERE and then click on the blue box that says “Vote for Lanny Swerdlow.”

I thank you for voting for me and if you volunteer and make it to the convention I will thank you again and do it in person.
